Personality and quirks
Birmans are quiet cats with a soft chirp-like voice. They are also very affectionate towards humans and may follow you wherever you go. And because this cat breed is gentle and sociable, it is an ideal companion for families with young children or other pets like dogs.
Tales of origin
According to The Cat Fancier’s Association (CFA), the history of the Birman breed is still shrouded in mystery. However, many claim this breed originated as companions of temple priests in northern Burma, thus its honorary title of “The Sacred Cat of Burma.”
The breed officially arrived in the United States in 1959 and was registered with the CFA in 1967. Since then, Birman cats have flourished in America and have become a popular and well-known cat breed.
