Tales of origin 

According to The Cat Fancier’s Association (CFA), the history of the Birman breed is still shrouded in mystery. However, many claim this breed originated as companions of temple priests in northern Burma, thus its honorary title of “The Sacred Cat of Burma.”  

The breed officially arrived in the United States in 1959 and was registered with the CFA in 1967. Since then, Birman cats have flourished in America and havbecome a popular and well-known cat breed. 

Caring for your Birman cat 

Birmans are generally a healthy cat breed that can live for up to more than 15 years. Proper care includes keeping them protected indoors, weekly combing, and daily tooth brushing to avoid periodontal disease. This cat breed is also known to enjoy bath time. Just make sure to use warm water and a gentle, low-pressure shower nozzle.
